L&D: Down the Learning Path, Following a Menu, Using a Guide, and Making a Map

There have been many labels used by my clients for what we initially called a performance-based Training Path back in early 1980s.

Slide1

I started doing CAD – Curriculum Architecture Design efforts to produce those Paths as a consultant in 1982. I first presented on this in the Fall of 1984 and then again at a national conference in 1985 – 33 years ago.

I did my first Path for Motorola’s Manufacturing Supervisors in 1981 when I was a Training Project Supervisor for the Motorola Training & Education Center (MTEC).

I’ve conducted 75 CAD projects myself – and business partners, staff and clients have conducted hundreds and hundreds more.

Some were conducted by other consultants under a License Agreement – and sometimes not – which is a frustrating issue for me and should be an ethical issue for them – and it’s the use of my database tools and templates that are the real issue, besides them claiming my methods as their proprietary methods.

I’m working on my 76th CAD project currently.

Here Is My 1985 Presentation at NSPI (now ISPI) on Curriculum Architecture Design via a Group Process:

My efforts were originally about creating multiple Paths from one central collection of content… from my 1985 NSPI Presentation…

lean-ISD (1999)

I started this book in 1983 – and after starting a Technology Transfer effort with General Motors in 1995, made the effort to finish that – to augment my 5 workshops for Analysts, CAD Designers, MCD Designers, Development Leads, and Project Planners/Managers that I created for GM.

The book was made available as a Free PDF in 2007 – to spur me into updating the book along with other books – which I finally finished in 2011 with my 6 Pack.
