Leave It To Informal Learning – The 70 – If:
- You can tell them and that’s sufficient
- There are procedures and/or process maps already in place
- The Risks for poor performance and/or Rewards for perfect performance – are inconsequential
Save your 10 – Formal Training For:
- To tasks where you can’t simply tell them and where they need practice with feedback to hone a skill/capability
- There are not procedures and/or process maps already in place – and it’s important to get it right
- The Risks for poor performance and/or Rewards for perfect performance – are consequential
