T&D: Please Quit Confusing the Various Means with the Ends*

Learning Is But One Means To the Ends of Performance Competence

*And in an Enterprise Learning Context the desired ENDS is typically Performance Competence back on-the-job.


Of course, in an Educational Learning Context and in a Personal Learning Context, the Ends might not always be so clear as Performance Competence back on-the-job.

Way back in 1979 in my first job out of college in a Training Department – I was taught to think about Guidance first and Training second. Here is a Past Post about that.
