T&D: Successful Hand-Offs From Design to Development in PACT

The Lead Developer Is Key

I always have someone designated as the Lead Developer in my Instructional Development efforts. For the sake of the HAND-OFFS.

Are you familiar with the phrase “dropped the ball”?

Adapt that to “dropped the baton” for a better concept – to avoid.

MCD is my version of ADDIE.

Hand-Offs between any of the Phases can be problematic.

I employ a Project Planner/Manager to do that across all 6 phases of MCD – and they oversee and orient a designated Lead Developer – and the two of them co-conduct a Development Team Kick-Off meeting to ensure a smoother hand-off.

I covered this in part-8 of a 12-part series I did back in 2007 for ISPI’s PerformanceXpress (PX) e-newsletter.

A PDF of that 12-part series is available for free – here.
