Myopic Thinkers in L&D see L&D as THE Lever in Performance – when Wise Enterprise Leaders See It As Just One of Many Levers. So do Business-Oriented L&D Professionals.

There are many variables to Performance. When a project has been triggered by a Problem – we should take the clients and stakeholders on our journey and co-discover the roots of their Problem – or Opportunity – and let them make the business decisions as to what to do next.

There are times when they would have us continue on our track to produce L&D Content – as they might have new hires to develop, and they may or may not have the responsibility or authority to change/fix the Root Causes that we might help them uncover.

It’s a Business Decision to take Informal Learning and resource the development of more formal, engineered Learning.

It’s a Business Decision to upgrade Formal Learning.

It’s a Business Decision to resource and encourage Informal Social Learing.

It’s a Business Decision to fund formal Structured Social Learning.

It’s a Business Decision to eliminate Formal Learning.
