One Week of Anxiety Is Coming

Flying my flag on the front porch as long as my Jayhawks are still in it. The Final Four – of March Madness – as they call it. Exciting. And anxiety-provoking.

Back in 2003

April 5, 2003 – I was at the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana for the NCAA March Madness Final Four.

The Kansas Jayhawks routed the Marquette Golden Eagles by 33 points, the fourth largest blowout in Final Four history. Then on April 7, 2003, I watched as Syracuse beat Kansas 81-78. This was Roy Williams’ last game as the KU coach. Oh, and KU beat Duke to get there – in the Sweet 16 matchup to get to Arizona in the Elite Eight.

It was a very exciting trip – and a big blur in the memory banks these 19 years later.

I forget how much the tickets were (but $1400 or $1500 come to mind).

The KU-Marquette game…

The KU-Syracuse game…

Nancy just found my souvenir cap from that weekend. I had put it away a couple of months ago to avoid bad luck in this year’s runup.

No matter what happens from here on out – it’s a Big Deal to make it to these final two dances.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
