After Steve (2022) reminded me of The Soul of a New Machine (1981) which was very popular with Motorola’s leaders in 1981, and so I read it as I had learned in my prior job to read what my firm’s leaders were reading. Although what was being read by my leaders in 1979 at Wickes Lumber in Saginaw was a book published ten years earlier in 1969, The Peter Principle.
